Regents Relationship With Specialists, Practitioners and Patients.

aesthetics in united kingdom

All our consultants specialists, therapists and aesthetic practitioners are all  independent practitioners and have personal responsibility for the care they provide, within our clinics and outside. Whilst they are not employed by Regents Specialists Clinics, they are required to operate according to Regents policies and procedures when practising directly or indirectly within and from our clinics. Majority of our Consultants are employed by the NHS, and may also work across a number of other independent providers, either within their outpatients and or in the admission or surgical units, as in-patient service providers. They will have the relevant practising privileges for this, which are kept up to date.

Every Specialist consultant is listed on the General Medical Council (GMC) medical register and undergoes a thorough vetting process before being granted “practising privileges” to practice at the Regents Specialist Clinics. They are subject to regular reviews by the Regents Clinics management with the help of the Specialists Advisory Committee. The same applies to our therapists and practitioners affiliations with professional bodies.

Your relationship with each specialist consultant, therapist or practitioner involved in your treatment  exists as a separate legal relationship alongside your relationship with Regents Specialist Clinics. If you are a private patient, you or your insurer will usually be invoiced separately by each specialist involved in your treatment, and by the hospital, although in some instances we may be able to act as a fee collecting agent for the Consultants to make the payment process easier.

Whilst consultants specialists, therapist and practitioners are responsible for clinical decision-making and the quality of the care they provide, Regents Specialist Clinics is responsible for ensuring that there are systems and policies in place to ensure that there is monitoring and oversight in place, designed to ensure quality, safety in accordance with agreed expert opinions. We insist that Regents policies, and terms of engagement with practising privileges be adhered to. All specialists consultants, therapist and practitioners are required to maintain adequate minimum levels of practice indemnity cover, in keeping with GMC guidance, and industry guidelines.
