Is Hair Transplant for me?
Did you know that not everyone qualifies for a hair transplant and that there’s actually more to it than just being follicularly challenged?
So, who does make a good hair transplant candidate?
Hair transplants work better with particular hair colours. The colour of your hair and how it relates to your underlying skin colour is really important. The less contrast there is between hair and scalp the better as you’re more likely to get better coverage.
Success depends on the shape and thickness of hair. Hair caliber is incredibly important as the appearance of baldness, particularly where the hair is thinning but still evident, is due to the light penetrating past absent or sparse hair and reflecting off the scalp. The thicker the hair that’s in place, the less light it will let through.
The more flexible your scalp the better. The more flexible your scalp the easier it will be for the surgeon to insert new hair follicles.
You shouldn’t have any diseases of the scalp or Alopecia. Men with Alopecia should not be getting a hair transplant as they have an unhealthy donor supply, making the procedure a waste of time and money.
You should be prepared for the financial investment. A hair transplant is not a cheap, quick or easy procedure, so you need to spend time thinking it through carefully. It may be that you need to have several surgeries so it’s hugely important that you have the funds to cover the costs.
Opting for a hair transplant is often the last resort for many men, so if it’s something you’d like to speak to a surgeon about in more detail then please do get in touch.
Every individual is different and therefore we cannot guarantee that you qualify for hair transplants. Please get in touch with us to learn more, as results to vary.
